Play in the NHL or be a rock star? Quite the dilemma...
At 20 years old, I figured I had my career choices narrowed down. Then my hockey career ended on the Mexican border and I had no band to play in...I had to carve a new path. It was time to re-invent myself.
I have been a professional hockey coach for over two decades. During this time I also worked as a program manager and marketing coordinator. I enjoyed the challenge of developing strategies to create business growth. I became self-taught in graphic design and videography. That was the creative spark that sent me on an exciting new adventure.
I attended the Digital Design Program at Vancouver Film School. This opened my eyes to all the different types of design and the theories behind them. It unlocked a new world that I gladly dove into head first.
Branding, graphic design, motion graphics, videography, packaging, UI design, UX design, and IA. School gave me the opportunity to discover and refine my design skills while my previous work in marketing gave me real world applications for clients.
I get the same excitement coming up with client solutions as I do seeing an athlete succeed. The look on a client's face when you pitch "the big idea", reveal a new brand identity or create an efficient user journey for their website is what makes what I do worthwhile. Design has never felt like work.
